Broken Nerikomi Piece #9 Special Conversational Art (Big Bowl Series)
Broken Nerikomi Piece #9 Special Conversational Art (Big Bowl Series)
If you've been watching the series, you know that this beautiful broken piece of nerikomi pottery has very special meaning.
We all experience brokenness at times. Sometimes we find ourselves in way too many pieces, despite our best efforts to make ourselves whole. Sometimes we just can't seem to fix what's wrong. And that's what these pieces are all about.
Let me tell you how these came to be...
I spent days and days trying to dial in a special new nerikomi pottery process that I came up with to make the most magnificent ringed bowls. And... I finally dialed it in! I made several of them successfully and I thought they'd be mega-stars, selling for a really nice price. These bowls would have sold for $2k-$3k each. But... I did something less than intelligent and they all developed big cracks. It was an overly emotional moment for me when I discovered what had happened.
Instead of tossing them, I thought maybe many of you would like to own a piece of the broken pottery as conversational art pieces. I broke the bowls apart into multiple pieces and went through the entire finishing and firing process with each and every one.
Friends, so many of us get to the finish line and are still broken or damaged, but that doesn't mean we're any less beautiful. In fact, in many ways our wounds and our trauma make for beautiful insights and conversation with those we care about. We may not be whole, but we each have wisdom so many lack who have never gone through the same gauntlets.
The finished pieces came out just as stunning as I hoped. And it's my pleasure to share them with all of you. I hope they bring lots of good thoughts and interesting conversation to your space.

Notes about purchasing items in this collection:
- TYPES OF CLAY - please note these might be stoneware, porcelain, or a mixture of both
- Stoneware (one of the strongest forms of pottery, literally becomes stone in the process) - please note these might be stoneware, porcelain, or a mixture of both
- Porcelain (even stronger than stoneware, and costs more due to complexity of and cost of materials) - Size has a little less to do with pricing in this collection than beauty of the piece and complexity of the piece. I use different firing methods, glaze techniques, raw materials, clay type, stains, etc to get every finished piece, and all factors are applied when figuring out the final price.
- I do my best to accurately measure each piece
- Any accessories/props, or other bowls from the collection shown in the photos, are not included.
- Always wipe to clean with a warm wet cloth. Don't use soaps or detergents.
SHIPPING:
I live/work in the USA, but you can order this pottery to be delivered just about anywhere in the world. Insurance is included on every order.
Please note that it may take me 7-10 days to get your order ready to ship. This is a very big collection and it's going to take me some time to organize it all and make sure everyone's orders are packaged securely and perfectly. Thanks for understanding!
Please also note that shipping and handling is extra. This is pottery and therefore is fragile. It takes some work, high quality materials, and time to properly package your pottery. All rates are factored in with real time pricing plus a materials/handling fee and will vary depending on where you live.

NOTE: I do my best to capture the true essence of all my pottery. Please note that every piece will look different depending on its surroundings and lighting, or on different screens.
All purchases are non-refundable. International orders may require duties and taxes, paid for by customer upon delivery. All my pottery is stoneware or porcealin, meaning it was fired at higher temperatures with more premium clay and glazes to make it truly durable. The only exception to this is Raku pottery which is fired at a lower temperature but still very strong. If you are buying any of my pottery as part of a collection or pottery drop, please note that it may take me 1-2 weeks to prepare the entire drop for shipment. Thank you for your patience.
